Stories from and about Pacific cultures
Tupu are a series of books, from Learning Media, which tell both traditional and
contemporary Pacific stories.
Each book in the series is available in:

Niuean
Samoan
Tokelauan
Tongan
The Tupu series features the work of Pacific writers such as Emma Kruse Va'ai, Lino Nelisi,
Kaliopeta Hu'akau, Sarona Aiono-Iosefa, Epi Swan, Taria Kingstone and Johnny Fribie.
The texts are supported with full-colour illustrations by Pacific illustrators such as Vaitoa Baker
and Gus Sinaumea Hunter.
Teachers can use the Tupu series to:
to motivate students to read in Pacific languages
to build reading confidence
provide material that canvases a broad range of curriculum
areas in Pacific languages
introduce spoken English as a second language using
audiotapes.
Each book in the Tupu series includes
Teachers Notes in English. They provide an English translation and background notes on
the material. In addition, the series is printed on tough durable
papers and covers and uses rust-resistant staples.
